1 Samuel 16:1, 11-13
1 And Jehovah said to Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, though I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite; for I have selected for Myself a king among his sons.
11 Then Samuel said to Jesse, Are these all the young men you have? And he said, There is still the youngest, but he is now tending the sheep. And Samuel said to Jesse, Send for him, and bring him; for we will not sit down until he comes here.
12 So he sent for him and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and had beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And Jehovah said, Arise; anoint him, for this is he.
13 And Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers, and the Spirit of Jehovah rushed upon David from that day forward. Then Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.
1 Samuel 17:12
12 Now David was the son of that Ephrathite from Bethlehem-judah, named Jesse, who had eight sons. And the man was an old man in the days of Saul, advanced in years among men.
42 Saying, What do you think concerning the Christ? Whose son is He? They said to Him, David's.
43 He said to them, How then does David in spirit call Him Lord, saying,
44 "The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand until I put Your enemies underneath Your feet?"
45 If then David calls Him Lord, how is He his son?
22 And when He had deposed him, He raised up David for them as king, to whom also He testified and said, I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man according to My heart, who will do all My will.
23 From this man's seed, God, according to promise, brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus,
3 Concerning His Son, who came out of the seed of David according to the flesh,
16 I Jesus have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright morning star.
